About the Role
As a Companion, you’ll provide personalized, relationship-focused support to our clients. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Caregivers/Companions to provide essential support and companionship to individuals in need of assistance. This role involves assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and promoting well-being in a variety of settings including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, dementia care, hospice care, or working with people with disabilities. A strong commitment to providing respectful and empathetic care is essential to enhance the quality of life for those served. The most important characteristics we are looking for are honesty, compassion and kindness. Skills can be taught, we are looking for high quality people that will fit in with our beliefs, our team and how we do our work in the community.
Responsibilities
Engage in friendly and meaningful conversation to provide social interaction.
Accompany clients on walks, outings, and appointments.
Assist with errands, including grocery shopping and light household tasks.
Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Provide companionship to reduce feelings of loneliness and promote mental well-being
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding if necessary
Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and clean environment
Assist with mobility and transfer techniques, including heavy lifting when required
Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals or family members
Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and social interaction
Follow care plans accurately while respecting client preferences and dignity

Qualifications and Experience
Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, home care, or hospice care is preferred, lived experience counts.
Knowledge of patient care, dementia care, and working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for mobility assistance
Strong English communication skills, written and oral, and a compassionate nature
Ability to work independently as well as part of a caregiving team
Certification in medication administration or caregiving training is a plus but not mandatory
Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, or weekends as needed
Must pass background checks and adhere to all safety protocols related to caregiving duties
A restricted class 4 drivers license, or a willingness to attain one, as well as a drivers abstract
Pay: CA$22.00 - CA$26.00 per hour
